Just wanted to let you all know that we will be participating in holiday activities on Friday October 27th and Monday 31st, We will have a lot of fun things to do, however we will not be having a "party". If you have some stickers or treats you would like to send in as prizes for the games that would be great, but these items are not are not a necessity.
Thank you!
Mrs. Wright
Our class will be participating in the annual Book Character Parade on October 27th, at 9:00. The children are encourged to dress up as their favorite book character and bring their favorite book. They will need to also bring a change of clothes. This event is always fun and entertaining, parents are welcome to come enjoy the festivities.

Also, the students are being asked to bring in a very small pumpkin by October 24th. We will be decorating them for the parade and Literacy Night, which is also October 27th from 6-8.
Thank you for all you do!
Let the holiday festivities begin! Pumpkins, spiders, spooky stories, turkeys, pilgrims, and Native American folktales... Fall is here!

Thank You!

It was wonderful to see so many of you at Open House. Thank you for taking time to come in and see what our first grade is all about.

~Open House~

I hope you all can make it to our Open House, this Thursday from 6:30-7:30. It will be a great time to see what your child is learning in class, and get to know what a typical day in room 123 is like. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet other students and their parents, as it is likely your child has been talking about some new friends. I look forward to seeing you all!

9-11...

Hey mamas and daddys! Hope you all are getting into the school year groove! I wanted to let you know that I talked to the kids about 9-11 yesterday and I read this story to them. It is a fiction story written for children to help them understand bullying, unity, bravery, heroism and patriotism. It's one of those stories that always choke me up because as an adult I can see the symbolism the author so beautifully portrays, so if the kids say I was sad...I was. =/

Here We Go!

Well the real fun has begun!  This week we have been getting settled in and getting busy learning! I have done a few formal and informal assessments with the kids so that I can get to know them and understand there individual academic needs. They are just a great bunch of little people and I am loving our time together!

Our First Day!

What a great first day! The kids are so sweet and really a fun little group. We are going to have an awesome year together !

Spring Break is just around the corner!
March 21st - 25th

Just the Facts, Please

In reading we are taking a deeper look at the non-fiction genre, and in writing we are just beginning to explore report writing. Ask your child, "What is the difference between a fact and an opinion?' See if they are can tell you about non-fiction vs. fiction, and ask if they know how to find non-fiction text features like a table of contents, caption, diagram, ect.

Almost 100 Days...

The Book Fair is HERE!

Our class will be doing a walk-thru, 1-25 at 2:10. This is when the children will browse and list what they would like to buy.

On 2-1 at 2:00, our class will return to purchase items. Please send any money in a SEALED envelope with the dollar amount and your child's name on the outside, thanks!

We will have a Valentine's Exchange on Monday, 2-14. The children will need to decorate a box, bag, milk jug or other container of their choice AT HOME and bring it in by FRIDAY the 11th.

February 3rd marks the 100th day of school!  We are really in the swing of things now.  The kids have grown a lot and they are learning so much!  I am so proud of them all!

We are learning lots of great stuff so check back regularly to keep up!

What Time is it?
